Tawana Preschool

Tawana Preschool officially opened in 1986 (Tawana Day Care Centre). It is a co-educational school aimed at providing quality early childhood education to children of Debswana Diamond company and critical service providers. Successful all-round learning is evident in emotional and social skills, academic excellence, cognitive, physical, and intellectual development.

Currently the school has three streams. Pre 1 is the first stream that caters for children from the age of 3.5 years. The middle stream is pre 2 and this caters for children from the age of 4.5 years. Our last stream is reception class which caters for children from the age of 5.5 years.

Our school logo depicts a diamond shape with children playing. The diamond shape symbolizes the importance of the mineral resources mined here in Orapa, for the welfare of Batswana. This picture presents a clear recognition of the crucial role a diamond continues to play in the economy of this country. The children playing are symbolic to learning through play, as we believe each child at this stage should be given an opportunity to learn while they play, in preparation for the ‘formal’ schooling at primary schools.

Our Motto ‘Deeds not words/Ditiro eseng mafoko’ places much emphasis on showing results and not just singing the gospel of excellence. This motto drives us to adopt the attitude of ‘less talk and more action.’
